Kolkata residents, after a desperate wait, finally heaved a sigh of relief as the city received moderate rainfall on Thursday, bring huge respite from the sweltering heat. Several other districts in south Bengal also experienced rainfall yesterday afternoon.
Even the weather on Friday since morning is pleasant enough to provide some comfort to students, office-going professionals and daily wage labourers. Multiple southern parts can expect scattered rainfall even today.
However, this respite might be short-lived as the India Meteorological Department has said that the intensity of rainfall will weaken after Sunday, following which humid weather condition may return. The weather office has also forecast the arrival of monsoon in south Bengal in the next three to four days.
Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rain will continue in five hilly districts of North Bengal. rainfall is expected to intensify on Monday.
